It is a feeling that rattles every NEET aspirant to their core: “What if I don’t get selected for an MBBS seat in India?” After putting in countless hours of hard work, sacrifices, and expectations, this thought can seem like the absolute end of your career. But let’s be very clear on one thing:
Didn’t crack the government seat? Is private college tuition too high? Do not despair. Studying MBBS abroad is quickly becoming one of the popular, affordable, and quality options for Indian students. Countries like Russia, Georgia, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and even Bangladesh have excellent quality and globally recognised medical degrees at a much cheaper cost than private colleges in India.
Low Costs compared to Indian private colleges
No Donation & Capitation Fees
English Medium Degree
MCI/NMC Recognised Universities (Eligible for FMGE)
International Exposure & Diversity teaching environment
But don't forget: Always choose NMC-approved colleges and do your research first before applying. And yes, you can sit for the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Exam) after your MBBS abroad if you plan to practice in India.
Still undecided about going abroad? Consider popular alternatives like BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BPT, BSc Nursing or Paramedical Sciences. All of these careers are in high demand and can be equally gratifying.
Taking a year off to prepare again is also an option, but consider this option only if you plan, strategise, and get support. Several students passed NEET with much higher ranks after attempting it again.
No matter whether you're wearing your stethoscope from India or from abroad, or whether you're in another field of medicine, your purpose is to heal, help, and serve. That is the only thing that matters.
✨ One exam does not determine your future. It is completely fine to take another path, but the most important thing is to move forward.
🌱 Not MBBS in India? That's ok - there are opportunities for you around the world.
