Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute (TPMI), established in 1972, is one of the most prestigious public medical universities in Uzbekistan, specializing in pediatric medical education. In 1999, TPMI launched the City Training-Medical Center (CTMC) to provide retraining for rural doctors under the "General Practitioner" program. TPMI also supports methodological training at 25 model Rural Physician Units (RPUs) in the Syrdarya region and maintains cooperative programs with 11 medical colleges and lyceums.
